Ace has two versions. Don't say flat or gloss buy looking at the lids, I'm going with 17029.

And so membership in the modders' club begins! My wife is actually happy, to some degree, with how much the car keeps me busy. She would have preferred a less pricey hobby... but better this than none.

Storm,

I fixed it for you ^.

Between the two choices, I am sure your wife would prefer you played with Porsches as opposed to playing with other women!

Hah! Yeah, Porsches are a better choice of hobby since they are always happy to let us have a romp whenever the mood hits us.

Still a great post. My trunk release button popped down inside the sill plate, and I had to remove it to snap it back in place- FYI my 996 Turbo had the 5mm cap screw as well. Thanks much.

Thanks for the thread...I was seconds away from purchasing new pieces. I was also thinking about covering mine with Alcantara....has anyone ever done that?

Does anyone have an update on how the finish holds up? Also, does this type of paint match other interior bits with the soft touch paint in 997s?

Thanks OP for the write-up.

I did this last night with PlastiDip. It worked great, required no prep, and looks just like original.

Awesome, thanks! I will take this opportunity to finally repair my trunk switch that is broken but sounds like it maybe repairable! unless I just sinks 90$ for a new one on sun coast...

I also had no luck finding a Lacquer flat black, could only find glossy and instead used this with no issues :

Going to re paint mine with a plastic trim / bumper paint. Should wear better. Will post results.
