So... you just concluded that what entices you are your own driver failures. ![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)
How romantic/nostalgic to expound the little driver's errors. I would be more impressed by a statement of proficiency with perfect shifts (up or down), especially 'tooling around the city or [when] on a short country cruise'.
Both posts above (1 and 2) show how PDK-illiterate their authors are.
A PDK is an advanced sequential that must be learned to operate proficiently, and to achieve that takes way longer than the typical test drive - D mode is for boulevard riders. To compare a PDK experience to an auto rental experience is simply laughable.

are you like this in "real-life"?
fortunately RL has an "ignore list", i.e.; a-do-not-display-posts-by-list.
ADias, you've just made that particular list in my config.

Wow. Some really inept metaphors in this thread. Let me add one more:
Passionately debating the superiority of a transmission choice is like "chocolate versus vanilla" in the Ice Cream War.
And when we get down to calling each other names, that's kind of the "mine's bigger than your's" in the...well, you get the idea.
As someone who's recently made the change from MT to PDK, let me restate that I was quite concerned about ticking the PDK box on my order, but...I shouldn't have been. It's a terrific transmission choice, and with the paddle steering wheel, you get some nice versatility in how to drive the car.
After a couple of months with the PDK, I'm a convert. MTs are great transmissions, especially Porsche's 6-speed with Sport Shifter. But, for everyday driving (at any skill level), I'd go with the PDK.
If you disagree, we can still hang out and drink beer together.

I bought a MT because when I test drove the tip, it just didn't feel "special" to me when compared to the MT. Since it's my first 911, I really wanted to feel "special". Having had the car for 10 months now, I still enjoy driving it but I do sometimes wish that I had a PDK - especially when I miss a gear change or something similar. I'm not race-car driver and my driving skills are basic but I just want to enjoy driving my boyhood dream car without the eternal worry that I'll break it. Sure, I'd love to be able to drive better but right now, my time is better spent focusing on my wife, kids and career.
I'm sure that October next year, when the warranty runs out on this 911, I'll be testing a PDK...

Obviously I LOVE and NEED PDK...Thank you Porsche for enhancing my life with my Porsche.
For those that are confused...see avitar. LOL
Manual vs PDK really should not come up....one is NOT better than the other as they both provide various needs. Buy what YOU want and stop critisizing some elses choice.
