Default New Continental Airlines direct service to Stuttgart

For those interested, Continental Airlines will launch a new direct service from Newark to Stuttgart, Germany in June.

Remember also that Delta has daily non-stop Atlanta to Stuttgart service, and has for for many years.

SFO to Zurich is a new route for Swiss and it's a very short hop from there.
I wouldn't go to Newark for any money.

Continental's terminal at Newark is fantastic and relatively new (built out in '02 or '03). It's their second largest hub city, so a Continental flight in and out of Newark is a nice time. Gate to p-club to gate.

I used to fly in and out of Zurich when I was living in Basel. The train station's in the airport which makes it easy to hop a train to any nearby city. Fly to Zurich and skip the connecting flight -- the train is much nicer.

Continental's service to Zurich got scaled back from here, though, so it's no longer a viable route. Newark or Houston to Zurich on a 757 is not my idea of fun.

I have flown quite a bit from EWR to FRA over the years. If you live in the greater NY area, EWR is the airport to use. Much more convenient than JFK. These days, howver, CO is hammering its customers flying out of EWR. Recently, I have been using Singapore Air ( the best in the business) out of JFK to FRA. They are significantly better and significantly cheaper ( and CO is one of the better US airlines). One can always take an ICE ( I believe) from Frankfurt to Stuttgart.

For any who may not have seen it, the Porsche Museum is an architectural marvel itself, and contains many beautiful things.

Got to be honest, the new Conti bus/first seats are actually great. Fully lie-flat (unlike American, and Lufthansa for that matter), more space than American, and they also serve wine that retails for more than $10 a bottle (quite a revolutionary idea, no...). Have not tried them in a 757 format, but in a 777, they work very well.

why do this -- when you can fly to Munich and rent a 911 and drive the glorious autobahn to Stuttgart.

Well worth doing
