Assuming you drive at an average of 50 mph over your 10k miles that works out at $185 per hour of driving plus fuel and maintenance.

Only you can decide if it makes economic sense to you.

But that's how much new car leases these days are going for. Even with the normal 3 yrs 10k miles lease you are gonna put out $50k and the economics are as such when people need new cars. are you opposed to the idea of leasing in general?

Is it just people who keep cars for that long or are you guys changing cars and changing loans ???
I have not kept any of my past half dozen cars for more than 24 months, however I plan to keep the GTS quite a while. That's not the point for me - the car depreciates at the same rate regardless of its financial status. Knowing this, any time TVM / compound interest calculator will tell you that with a loan @ 1.9% interest my net value is greater if my cash is earning interest instead of being spent up front on the car, even with the interest front loaded.

I dont usually keep my cars long as well. Max 3 years. So do you think this Porsche 24 months 5K miles/yr with a 70% residual a good deal or should I get the 3 years? I am planning on getting the 991 so at the end I may just wait....

Most people average about 25 - 30 mph as we found out in a recent thread. That would effectively halve the hourly cost to $90.

If you are talking about "economic sense" you are in the wrong place anyway.

You must have been looking for the Prius forum.

In addition, you can own it for 2 years so you have the benefit of spending $49 a day to "look" at it in my garage too. : ) Joking aside, these days I still want to spend the lowest amount of $ to max the enjoyment as this is an interesting moment from the 997.2 to 991.

Linear with speed? Or more likely exponential, say inverse square-law... So, 1/4 the fun? I think there remains that "look at it" fun, too.

I hit 5000 miles on mine yesterday, exactly 6 months to the day into the 2y 10,000/y lease. Lucky estimate, I guess.

MSRP on mine was ~104,500, and my cost is about (give or take... including taxes and fees on the lease) 31K, for 24 months, with a 70K residual at the end, on October 23, 2012.

Looks like I'm on track to put 20,000 miles on it, so that's about $42 a day, or $1.55 a mile, at my avg speed of 31 mph, that's $48.05 per hour.

I don't really know how I feel about that, but Oh Well.

Hi Spectro28, how did you manage to get such a good lease rate? The $ per day is similar but $ per mile of enjoyment is much better even if I considered $90 a day for me at an ave speed of 25 mph. The current deal I am looking at is with 10K less miles in 2 years but costing $6K more than yours, $3.7 a mile, yikes! I have already got 7% discounts on a similar C2S....you should be happy.

am happy - the car came with the 5K trunk money (cap cost reduction), low lease rate, and high (subsidized) residual for leftover 2010 cars that ran starting in October 2010, when the '11s had been on the lots for almost 4 months.

I wish that deal was still around. I found a left over 2010 recently untitled with MSRP around 105K that dealer was willing to sell in the low 80's. Unfortunately Porsche was not leasing any 2010's anymore. Only option was to finance and it did not qualify for CPO 1.9% so I passed. Basically IMO it's a used 911 as the 12's are here.

Thanks. I would want to lease. I think I'm done financing. Rather pay more per month and not take the financial risk as I don't keep cars long.

2012 Black Editions are arriving at dealers now.

I just inquired about a lease on a GTS and I think they are pretty bad:

money factor 0.00260
residual after 3 year 12k miles: 58%
monthly: $1861
$3800 to start the lease

what do you think ?
