Default Michelin PROMISE

Michelin have just introduced a new tyre warranty here:

http://www.michelinman.com/promise/

- 30 day 'trial' period
- 3yr "flat tyre" changing assistance
- limited wear warranty

http://www.michelinman.com/media/en-...wners_Manu.pdf

This will cover the Super Sport when launched, and presumably (although I am not certain) the Cup Sports also.

There are exclusions (as you would expect) for track use.

Also note that "staggered" fitments (like those on pretty much any 911) as special, where one axle (rear) only receives 50% warranty.

Impressive! Let's see what Bridge/Pirelli/Conti do to counter it.

I see a one time opportunity here ...

sadly it would only be 15k miles due to staggered fitment on 911s ....

Larry: what do you mean by a one time opportunity? Is this program time limited?

What does the staggered fitment implication? I guess they realize that rears wear at twice the rate.

If we all take our tyres back after 8k miles and return them 'under warranty' (assuming this would 'work') that loophole would soon be spotted and closed.

They warranty 4x tyres based upon proper tyre rotation regimen, since staggered fitments (pretty much found on the majority of sports cars) obviate the ability to rotate, they reduce the warranty by 50%, typically on the rears I believe.

So for a set of Super Sports or Pilots on a 911 the effective warranty would be 15k a corner I believe (or at least at the rear)

Just noticed that the wear has to be very even.... mine usually wear on the edges due to the camber, so would not be covered...

You can rotate side to side - wonder if that counts?
