Default First 911--Should I buy extended warranty??

Just purchased a 2006 C2S from a private owner. The car received a near perfect PPI from local Porsche dealer. Waiting for the car to be shipped to me and now I am wondering if it's worth to buy an extended warranty, and if so whom with?

Thanks

It really depends on your financial comfort level. The 997 has been a very reliable car, however, as with anything with two moving parts, issues can arise.

These are generally expensive cars to repair.

I made the decision to self-insure when my warranty expired last July.

If and when an issue arises, I will just take care of it. Financially, I believe
this is a wise decision for me.

However, if you opt for coverage, Fidelity has good reviews.

What do people mean when they say self insure? Simply pay for service themselves vs. a warrant company?

Personally I would not own a Porsche that was without warranty. There's a very simple reason why - I don't have the skills nor do I have a mechanic that I trust to carry out repairs without ripping me off.

Anything Porsche is expensive to repair since these cars are not designed to be easy to fix - they are designed for performance. Case in point is my rodent chewed wiring loom - $50 in parts and $750 in labour. I also had a stuck lifter on my car - if not for the warranty, it would have put me out several $k.
