Tire sizes are the same so you must be asking about wheel size - specs are for two different types of wheels so they are both "correct" depending on which wheel option was mounted - as long as you adher to the specs you'll be OK.

The same tire sizes are apparently recommended for your car regardless of whether you have 8" or 8.5" front rims and 11" or 11.5" rear rims. Some models use 295/30/19 tires on 11" rims, but in the case of the Targa, the 305 tires are recommended for the rears.

Actually--not found on the turbo wheels. They are forged, and that information is not on the front of the wheels unless they are pressure cast and included by the OEM vendor. For the turbo wheels, look on the back for their dimensions.

The information that is on the factory turbo wheels is on the side of the backpad. You can usually locate this by looking between the spokes. The 8.5/11.5 option is the Carrera Sport wheel. If you have 997 Turbo wheels off of a 997 Turbo then they will be 8.5/11. If they were a factory option for your C4 then they would be 8/11.

Thanks Alan. I assume either size would work when purchasing new wheels?

gellie, either a 295/30/19 or 305/30/19 will work. These are the supplied tire sizes that came on 997 cars...the 295 and 305 depended on if the car was a Turbo or GT3 or came with the Sport wheels like in Edgy's avitar...those were 11.5 wide.

I had 305's on narrow body 997 with Turbo 19x11 wheels on my 2007.

Hope this helps.
