In November, I bought a new, leftover 2009 C2S cabriolet for $26K off MRSP. It had 175 miles on it. The salesman told me they had difficulty selling the car because of the exterior color (cream white). I got retail for my 2006 C2cabriolet with 4600 miles as a trade in. We established the $26K off MRSP then negotiated the trade in value for my porsche. As far as the trade in, the dealer started at $6K less than the final trade in value. The dealer paid for transport both ways as well. I agree with the comments above. I think you're better off with a leftover, new 2010. Hope this helps.

You'd be better off buying a brand new leftover 2010 and buying the extended warranty. I'm pretty sure there are some big factory to dealer incentives on those cars right now. I know last year you could buy leftover 2009s for more than 20K below sticker due to factory incentives.
Thanks for the info. I paid invoice for the Cayman S I bought from them so I can't see paying invoice for a car with 8,300 miles on it from the same dealer. I was looking around for new 2010s, but there aren't any nearby, unfortunately. Worst case, I don't get a good price on it and wait for a used 09/10 to pop up.

That does sound a little light for an S Cab.

You are probably better off just buying a nice used one with remaining factory warranty and fewer miles from a single owner that took care of it.
That makes sense...

I didn't know we could determine what actual invoice is on 997's? Has this actually been determined? I would like to know what porsche actual invoice is is someone can provide this.

I used truecar.com, which I assumed to be accurate.

My experience has been that loaners and "executive" cars tend to get thrashed. You'd want a DME report to check for over-revs, like any used car.

Assuming you can get the price right on the car, I would still assume that it's going to need a clutch replacement earlier than normal. As part of the negotiations, you might see if you can get them to give you a deal on your first clutch replacement -- especially if it's needed before XX,XXX miles.

Porsche are not supposed to CPO a car which has over-revs. For peace of mind, make sure you get a DME read before you sign.

Invoice is available from any number of internet sources. Edmunds, NADA, etc.

In my experience, these sources are accurate except they often omit freight freight from port of entry, which is a legitimate part of dealer invoice cost.

That is not totally accurate. Porsche probably won't CPO a car with Range 5 range 6 over revs, and maybe not Range 4 over revs. There have been a few guys here that were considering buying CPO cars that did have over revs in Ranges 1 - 3.

Max, did you end up getting the car?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks! For the record, they're pricing it at 99.9k on their website.

Very late follow up to this, but I did not, no. I did have a DME scan done, it had nothing in the 4-6 range and barely anything in the other ranges. Tires had plenty of tread left considering 8k miles on it. It just didn't feel right when I test drove it, it also had a poorly applied clear bra that was peeling off along the bottom of the car. One wheel had some wheel rash that the dealer was going to have repaired. It sold maybe a week or two after I looked at it.

I ended up getting a 2010 C4S w/1600 miles on it.
