This is my second post and going to be first porsche. So I would like to say thank you to all those who answer this thread in advnace. Need some help with two possible cars i'm looking at. 1st-05 SY 997c2 one owner clean PPi with 14k miles bose, full leather, power for 38k. 2nd car is black 06 c2s 3rd owner, clean PPi, 17k miles, full leather, sports chrono, bose, nav, clear bra, new tires, sport shifter for 48k. Just curious what you guys think. Both cars have clean car fax and both porsche dealers say they have never been repainted. Thanks

Both cars sound to be good prices if all checks out as you described. My opinion is based on market watching for a few months ... I just picked up a CPO'd '05 997 C2 w/ 25k mi. for $42.

It depends upon the market near you.

It seems that you are more concerned with color and options than the other two most important characteristics of these cars: rear or all wheel drive and engine size. You really need to drive all four versions to decide which is right for you. Even if you live in a climate that does not require a c4/c4s you might like it's steering feel and driving dynamics better than those of the c2/c2s, or you might not. Still you'll never know until you try. As for your choices above, if you can swing an extra $10K, go for the black one just cause it's an S.

Dan, how does the market around me should tell me what car I should pick? Just curious to hear your approach.

The original poster asked if that was a good price. Prices vary from region to region (market to market), what may be a good price in Chicago may not be so good in Fla or Cali.

I thought most people shop for cars online these days and not as much locally anymore. For example, Canadian prices used to be much higher before cross-border shopping became popular. Poor selection of used cars and strong US dollar kept the local prices up for decades. Now that every Canadian knows about sites like autotrader.com and the dollar is at par (sorry to rub in) prices have come down hugely. I would be very surprised to hear that prices vary much between states. I could be wrong I guess.
