Even more impressive : "In GT qualifying, Dominik Farnbacher was awarded the pole with a lap of 1:48.781 (117.815 mph) in the No. 66 TRG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup after teammate Andy Lally's time was disallowed due to a technical violation. Lally ran a lap of 1:48.487 (118.134 mph) in the No. 66 TRG Porsche, but his rear wing was found to be mounted too far to the rear."

1.48, in these cars, is just ripping fast there.

Agree about the envy but we do have Laguna Seca pretty close - not to mention a surplus of great driving roads. (Plus, if you track Laguna, Infineon and Thunder Hill are all within a reasonable drive.)

No doubt. I'm about 30 minutes from Infineon. I've just never been to a 24hr race (love to do LeMans someday too) and Datona would be fun.

Let's see if Porsche can take the win for the third time in a row! Does anyone know if the #45 will be running for the entire Grand-Am season, or just for the 24?

It's a shame the #45 is down 15 laps as of now. They are making up time really really fast though. I bet if they didn't have that run off in the beginning of the race they would be a lap ahead of the current leader.

What is a shame is what happened. The FL team owner should not be behind the wheel. He was not able of saving the car during a traffic event while he was driving. He has fun in GT driving one of the cars while letting the real drivers win in the other.

+ 1

Seth Nieman ruined it for his team. If they had another real pro at the wheel instead of the team owner, their chances would have been much greater.

Hopefully he learns from this. The team is otherwise 100% competitive.
