Default Dropped car off at California detailing - noticed 2 small dents. Sad.

Hi folks,

Well I finally decided to get a nice detail from California Detail (for you non Bay Area folks, they use this great airplane wax. Thanks for the tip Winkingchef).

When I dropped off my car they found two barely visible dents, one on the front quarter panel, one on the edge of the rear wheel well. The latter is extremely hard to see. They have a dent guy who will take a look today. I suspect the rear fender one may be difficult to get.

Just experiencing that initial sadness that my pristine car has a little dent. Hope it's fixable and not too pricey.

Don't worry a good dent guy can restore it to perfection in no time.

Don't be sad! As long as the paint is there, with a good dent guy it will come out great. It is not an expensive process. I had a door ding that was fixed and you would never know.

don't worry - I had an M3 hailed on - hundreds, if not thousands, of dents - all but one along the roofline crease came out - took two weeks, but wow!

thank you for the encouragement everyone.

the person has good references and apparently does all the luxury sf dealerships (and i imagine some of the exotics that cal detail gets).

The same thing happened to me at my P-car dealership with one of its first visits several years ago. I know that they did it because the paint was flawless but just dented--a sign that they attempted to clean off the paint that was probably left from another door.

The paintless dent fixer guys do a seriously good job on stuff like that. Won't even have to remove the fender liners.

Default UPDATE

It will cost $250 for both dents to be repaired. My $195 detail just turned into $450 like that. Sucks.

It's just money. Your satisfaction, knowing that they are fixed, is worth a lot more. You'll be fine.

$195 detail? damn - they got me for $400 a couple years back for my 996 (and it looked new - a MY02 done in 2008, I think)

their dent guy is good though

will you buy their wash kit for afterward?

Their Dent Wizard fixed 3 medium sized dents on my car and did a pristine job.
It's not cheap, but one needed to be fixed (rather obvious) and he gave me a fair deal to do the other 2 at the same time.

There's nothing like examining your car under their halogen lights to make you insecure - grab a mirror and look at your face under the same lights - not pretty.

Are they running a $195 special for an exterior detail?
Hmm....

P.S. One day I hope we can meet up and I can finally see your new car!

Yeah $195. I went in telling them I just needed the exterior and the paint was in good condition. And the interior I would do myself. So got it down to $195. I think if your car really needs a run through, $400 is about right.

And yes, the dent guy is good. Car looks brand spankin' new.

Default fender dent

I have a small dent just above the rear wheel well.....took it to two dent guys and they said that P-cars have a liner very close to the outside metal of the car and they can't get to it. Anyone else heard this?
Thanks!

looks like your dealer and my dealer were separated at birth. only 300mi on the clock when i took it in for something (cant remember) a few yrs ago and noticed a dent when i came to pick it up. i'm pretty sure it was from a door, but no evidence of scuff/paint, as if they had cleaned it. effing annoying. naturally they denied anything and i had to foot the PDR bill myself. looked like new when the guy was done.
