It seems to be a great price for a C2 with extra options for the price of a basic spec out ! (not wild about black cars though)
The 991 is launched in Europe for next year 2012, I always thought the USA market was a year behind ?
997 was a 04 launch, (05) USA

I bet not; the worldwide debut will most likely be at the Frankfurt Auto Show. I doubt cars will be in US showrooms before then. Towards the end of the calendar year makes more sense to me.
And it would make no sense to have two generations of the same car with the same model year. Had this special edition not been released as a 2012, I'd have bet Porsche would continue as they have in the past with outgoing Turbo and GT3 models being sold alongside new-platform Carrera models as 2012s. But as I mentioned previously, perhaps VW has influenced marketing, with the plan now being MY2013 for all new 911 models.

Dealers must use the same calendar as theme parks. In FL if they promise something in Spring and you think Spring Break they mean by late June. When I hear Fall I think September/October. Fall ends December 20th... I spoke with a leading national dealers salesperson today and was told the 911 Black edition was coming out April 2012 not April 2011. I made mention of the Porsche site press release and the only reply was that we don't have any builds for the car... I did not want to take it further so I just took the conversation as a sign I should look someplace else for my next car...

Wasn't the 996 available at the same time the 997 came out back in 2005 (US)? If I remember, in 2005, you had 996 4S and Turbos and 997 standard and S.
So I think it's possible for the 991 to be introduced while 997s are still on sale within the same year.
