The main reason I would upgrade to a 997.2 would be for the extra power. However this could be a very expensive way of increasing the power from 355 to 385 bhp.
I just did a search on the Porsche web site for 2009 models and only non S models are showing up if I limit the search to $70k. I therefore, unfortunately, can't afford to buy a 2009 S model at this point.
I think a better option for me would be to talk to the dealer about getting an after market warranty added to the 2 year CPO and keep the car for 3 or 4 years instead.
The prices for used C2S and C4S don't seem to be that different. I'm not going to be driving the car that hard to really appreciate one or the other. I therefore didn't limit my search to either. I was more concerned about the options fitted. This won't be just a sports car for me, I also want to love being in it.

for what its worth, you wont notice the difference of 355 vs 385hp on the street as torque is everything and both models have similar torque outputs. There is maybe a difference of 0.1 or 0.2 seconds for the manual in 0-60 between the two cars and again you have to ask yourself is this worth the extra cash..

Manual sport seat is all you need, adaptive are nice....I had them before but nota deal breaker to me
Why are you looking at C4S and not a C2S. the C4S lacks some of the feel of a C2S; how do I know I owned a C4S
I have full leather interior on my GT3 and would give it to you for a non full leather.....it is a pain in the butt to keep clean when you slide off track into dirt

I too think $57k is too high. I bought last May a CPO 07 997C4S with 13k miles, all of the options you mentioned minus the steering wheel for $60k.

(1) You personally like the LED lights (front+back) or if you're chasing savvy golddiggers who will notice
(2) You can't or don't want to drive stick and want PDK as it is clearly superior to the Tipronic.
(3) You are buying the newest car you can afford (good advice in general, but not always true with varying babying that happens to P-cars)
The other stuff is just window dressing, IMHO.
While they are growing on me, I still think LED lights are a bit faddish.
(1) You personally like the LED lights (front+back) or if you're chasing savvy golddiggers who will notice

I think about depreciation, I think honestly it crosses every owners mind.
C4S cars will always bring the money on resale, the wider rear and standard equipment are a big plus to some buyers.
The 09 S cars are out there in the high 60's, but you may have to purchase from other than Porsche dealers. I had found a 6k mile 09 S car at Mercedes Benz of KC last year and it was down to 67k...
It comes down to where your at in your car 2 yrs from now (payoff wise if you financed it) and if your in a good position , you'll have more options on selling it and be able to price it at or just below current market prices for a fast sale.

I've performed another search on AutoTrader and there are a couple of 997.2 S models around the $70,000 mark. They have minimal specs though.
To me it's not worth the extra $13k to get another 30 bhp. I appreciate there are other benefits but nothing I desire over the car I'm considering.

While you wont be able to find many 2009 S' listed for $70K, i bet you'd be able to buy one for that price. With half as many miles as the 997.1 C4S.
I'd only worry about the miles if you know you will be selling in 2 years. If you put 30K miles on any car, you will take a big hit.
Did u get or are planning to get a PPI?

I'm in two minds about getting a PPI. It's already had an inspection for the CPO and is backed up by the CPO warranty. I'm sure that these checks are minimal and it's in the interest of the dealership to address as few of the issues as possible that show up.
I've seen the CPO report and the DME report.
What additional items would a PPI check or check more thoroughly? I assume it'll tell me which, if any, body panels had been resprayed where as the CPO you know that at most two have been.

I would also recommend an oil filter dissection.
