I just had one of my winter wheels straightened a couple of months ago. Straightened perfectly and now perfectly balanced. It's a no brainer. Unless it is cracked then straightening is very effective and perfectly acceptable.

Granted these were BMW wheels but I had one straightened for the M5 ( they used heat in the process) and it seemed fine, and I had two with cracks "welded" by a place up here near BOS. They seem to be fine too but they are on a 97 M3 and I don't have a clue as to whether this translates to p-car wheels.
The vendor does seem knowledgeable as to what they are able to repair.
