Thank you all for the great feedback!

I made the mistake of having my wife test drive the Audi Q5 today. I swear there is something they put in the leather that attracts females. Didn't buy yet, but she loved it. If only we could find a preowned one with significant savings (ie high 30s). Don't feel like spending $50k right now.

The Audi crossovers are fine too, but they are not SUVs, are they?
If you're after driving dynamics... you buy a Range Rover Sport.

Add Tuareg to your list. I think it had the best value amongst the SUVs mentioned around here. Built like a tank and is very well made and ride and handles well.

Why? Q5 is a great car. Just don't like the sticker? Then look for a cpo across states. Otherwise find a nice Tuaerg.

Notice you are in the SF area. Gas prices forecast by some to hit $4/gallon (or more) here (and elsewhere) come the start of the summer driving season. Too much to expect them to fall much after that. (Unless economy goes into the tank.)

Thus your SUV search might want to include some consideration about fuel consumption if you plan on doing much driving in the thing.

In fact, a diesel powered SUV might be just the ticket.

Sincerely,

Macster.

+1.

I wish we got a lot more Diesel SUVs here. That's a perfect engine for SUV, lots of torque to haul crap, and great MPG to boot. Keep inline-6 gas engine for your fun in the sports car.
