Engine rpm's expressed in different ranges in terms of "ignitions".
"ignitions" in higher ranges indicate an engine may have been over-revved. A good example is a missed shift, and you pegged the tach.
The dealer will also use this parameter to void your warranty, based on engine abuse.

I agree completely that Sport Chrono makes a huge difference in how PDK works. However, the good news that you can have Porsche retrofit the Sport Chrono and gain all of the functions of SC. If you don't like the "wart" on the dash, you don't have to install that (it must be ordered separately if you want it).

agreed, but I wouldn't buy a manual with it. just say no to dash warts (sorry - this was quoted on the wrong post and is in reference to sport chrono / PDK combo)

Just spoke with my service manager about the need for a DME on a Tip or PDK. They said it is not necessary as there is no potential to mis-shift on an automatic. Definitely need one on a manual though. Hope that helps.
