Default Former 997.1 Owner, 6 years Later '11 Cayman Owner

Its been a long 6 years since I bought my second Porsche, a 2005 Cpe, in Feb. 2005, trading it in for a 997 Cab in Aug. 2005. But last week, I bought what is already my favorite Porsche - a 2011 Cayman with PDK. Here's the thread I started on Planet 9.

I'll continue to lurk here to learn as much as I can. After all, there is no substitute.

Saw a GT Silver with full Cocoa at the dealer - full and then some - he had done the steering column as well and a few other bits - man, that was a stunning car. I saw your pics on P9 - car looks great, but I think you still owe a few pics to "fill" in the blanks, no?

O love the Cayman, and while I have never dirven one (owned a Boxster...not the same) it is supposed to be a great driver.

that said, I wouldn't have one that wasn't an S. and I really would like to see one with a 3.6L or 3.8L (I've read where a 3.6L has been installed)

I believe someone has put a 3.8 X51 in a Cayman.

Hey Turk, I'm interested in your thoughts on 997.1 vs 987.2 , can you give us a comparison ?

Handling of the Cayman is unbelievable. The thing practically drives itself around a track. It could easily take a lot more power, but it's very capable as it stands.

I'll give a more detailed driving comparison later this week but I can already say that the build quality on this Gen. 2 Cayman is noticeably better than my 997.1 Coupe or Cab, and that's not to disparage the 997.1 at all; it's just that the Gen. 2 is more refined and feels tighter and better screwed.
