GT3 or GTS?
I am torn between ordering a GTS or a GT3. The car will be a daily driver, 99%street driving and little to no track use. I am getting out of my 997TT because I miss the rear wheel drive and lightness of the 997.1 S I had before I got the turbo.
Here is my rationale for each car:
GT3: That engine, that chasis, that design...all speak to me. However, is it overkill for a DD and uncomfortable to boot?
GTS: Good power, wide body, rear wheel drive, nice styling...reminds me of the 993 S. However, is it too much of a step down from the turbo? How good and reliable will the 9A1 be in time (vs. the GT1 in the GT3)? 997's are ubiquitous, as per Chris Harris' editorial in the 2/11 Excellence.
Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.

Although I'm not in the market yet, I've gone through this debate in my mind as well. It's a tough call, strong pros and minor cons for both cars.
For me, it would be the GT3. The engine in the GT3 is the trump card IMO, I want that engine! Plus the ability to have a more raw sports car when I want it. But the down side that I think about is the attention that rear wing will get and also the lack of rear seats.
The GTS will look like any other 911. Which is a good thing if one doesn't crave the limelight, plus it's got back seats.
But back to the GT3. The next dilemma, once one decides on a GT3 is then why not an RS? For the price difference, the RS seems to be worth it. But in my case, a new GT3 is a bit of a stretch budget wise, an RS too much of a stretch. I hope by the time I'm ready for another Porsche, my budget situation will be better.

Sounds to me like the GTS is for you. The GTS has a newer engine design, the GT3 may have a tried and true engine but it has coolant couplings popping out and not something I would want out of warranty.
There is so little hp difference between the two.

OK. I am going to stop by the dealership tomorrow and drive a GT3 and a 997.2 S back to back and see how each one "speaks" to me and what each says. But I have a feeling that if I still have all my fillings in my teeth at the end of the GT3 drive, I will go in that direction.

GTS. If you're not going to the track why get a GT3 for the street. I can't see the point. The X51 engine will provide you similar performance in a more street liveable version. I'd buy a GTS. Now if you're going to sprinkle in track days - that changes things a bit. I also prefer the stealth, lower profile of the GTS. I also love the wide azz and 2WD plus PSE. Perfect for the street - louder when you want it, turn it off when you dont.
