Question Help a noob find a 997-2 C4S?

Hi, I am in the market now for a 997-2 C4S with PDK. I have never been a Porsche owner before, nor anything like it, so I'm a bit new to the whole scene and I'm hoping you guys can answer some of my questions as I get my feet wet. From my research, it seems like a gently used one is usually listed at around the $105k mark, which is a significant savings over a brand new one. First off, I'm wondering if it's reasonable for me to aim for around $95k...do those used dealers have around 10% wiggle room? Or how much if not? If I can find one for that price, I'd probably pull the trigger right away.

Of course, my criteria is already pretty specific, sort of borne out my desire for AWD, the styling of the S, and wish for PDK as it will be a daily driver. It seems like manual is more common and searching for PDK is tougher. Honestly, I'm not sure where to search, which brings me to my second question...where are the best places to search and what resources do I have?

Finally, I have noticed a much larger selection in the US just looking on autotrader, but I'm not sure what special considerations there are for importing a 911. Plus it seems like the taxes+fees once stacked up negate any savings of buying in the US. I bought my S2000 new in 2007 and imported that from the US myself, so I am comfortable with the process.

Any help/direction is appreciated!

PS. I live in Canada.

Check out www.cars.com 2009 with 7M @ $88 which had an original window of $110,000. Great looking car. I have the PDK and love it. Good luck!

Check out the Porsche web site. Use the Pre-Owned Search option and select USA. There are 12 2009-2010 C4S with PDK ranging from $86K to $110K (US currency).

BTW, the Canadian site shows zero (0) 2009-2010 C4S with PDK.

Welcome to the forum, and great choice for your next car ! You're probably better off posting this in the Rennlist Canada forum.... if you scroll down on the main forum page, you'll find it.

As far as price is concerned you should easily find a low mileage 09 C4S in Canada for under $95K CDN, maybe even a 2010. If you buy in the US, you will have a much better selection AND likely will save 10-15%. Importing a car yourself is not a big deal or you can have a broker/dealer do it for you. Feel free to PM me for more info.

I like the pre-owned Porsche site too - gives you an idea of asking prices...but the info is usually dated since selling dealers and/or PCNA are very slow to update for sold cars.

I have an MY09 PDK C4S launch car...has sports buckets and is perfectly optioned for me as is from the factory. Bought it new but these models with sports buckets sat around forever. Might still be a few around new...who knows? PM me I'll give you a contact #. Good luck.

Hey everyone, thanks for the good suggestions. Car shopping is fun, but I can't wait to find the right car.

Am I right in assuming that most of the 09 ups with under 10k are probably in mint condition unless otherwise stated? I figure most Porsche owners will take pretty good care of their cars.
