Patrick is the most recognizeable american woman associated with anything having to do with motorsports. Sure, they could go with some unknown, but I don't see that being a draw. They could do a weekly "Danica versus the Stig" segment.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one disappointed in the show, there was no humor, and the hosts were boring, hope it gets better or it will not be around long

Default It Was Lame - Can It Already

You got that fat clown with the flannel shirt and spiked hair, what exactly are trying to be?

It was just not funny or amusing. It was stupid.

Just put the freaking British shows on American TV. What is so hard about this? I already watch it on the BBC.

The show is supposed to get much better by the 3rd episode according to the NY Times. Hopefully they're right because the first show was a disaster.

You can't copy the format of the origional without holding youself up to comparision. In this case they don't have the talent to pull it off. When Tanner Faust is the funniest guy in the cast you know you are in trouble. I couldn't believe they compared the top speeds of the Lambo's using drivers reports of the speedometer readings. What is Stig doing in this mess? Sad.

I confess I didn't watch the first episode, but I did see the promos. When I saw who was hosting I groaned. Faust = boring and I don't know anything about the other two. My DVR runneth over with the BBC version. Part of the charm of Top Gear is the fact that the hosts are middle aged family men acting like teenagers - not teenagers acting like adults. I predict it will flop.

I agree. It's unwatchable. They shouldn't have copied the British show as much, and they need someone really funny.... If the UK Top Gear didn't exists, it still would be weak. But in comparison, it's one of the lamest things I've seen on TV in a while.

I didn't see it- I was out of the country last week- but I did want to comment that I did see the first few episodes of the UK Top Gear. They were pretty mechanical too at first- JC was mechanical narrating the first few Stig laps. I think it took a few seasons for the UK version as we know it to take form.

Look forward to seeing it tonight.

Give it some time. The great shows like Seinfeld, Friends, Cheers, Top Gear UK all took time to develope. Give them a season to prove themselves.

If that's the case then Top Gear US needs to recast their 'drivers' because those shows you mentioned actually had funny people...well Seinfeld, Cheers and Top Gear UK at least. Key is to be funny and witty without having to try too damn hard to come across as such.

Tanner Foust = Garbage
Mole Face = Garbage
Tall Fat Guy = Garbage

+1

I would much rather watch the US Top Gear than 99% of the NASCRAP on Speed now.

Ditto. Still the best US car TV show right now, but I would like to see them cast new people. I like Faust, but the others are boring. A hot car girl would do wonders to the ratings.

A hot girl with no substance would do nothing but spike the ratings for a minute...a Sabine Schmitz kind of girl now thats something worth my time. And her auto show in Germany was fun and playful.
