Why does Porsche not use run flat tires like the Corvette does? Does driving without a spare bother anyone? I have read some of those posts also, and would like some additional opinions on the spare tire question.
Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Driving without a spare would drive me crazy but I've managed to put together a spare and tools that will get me out of a jam in the event of a flat.
I'm sure you've read the threads on the different spares available and it can be done for not too much money.
I couldn't imagine letting that beautiful car sit by the side of the road while I waited on someone else to bail me out. A simple plug kit will get you out of most situations so a spare it just one more level of protection.
Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Ever drive a car with runflats and then the same car without? Runflats are teeth jarring. Old run flats are like driving on hockey pucks. Car slides everywhere. Exciting sure but that wears off.

Lubrecon,
You can find some nice vehicles out there if you just take your time. Also take the time to look through the Porsche preowned website. Since we dont really get as cold here and have to put our cars away for the winter, the prices dont tend to fall locally as much as other locations.
The Targo is an oustanding vehicle and I would highly recommend it. In addition, it is a much rarer car than a coupe or cab so it really tends to stand out. If you think you would like to to have a coupe with an open feel then this is definately an option.
I would continue to look at the S version with SC to get the most in that option. I also purchased a 6 speed manual even though many raved about the PDK (Automatic) as I felt the need to row my own. It is just a matter of preference in my opinion and I dont race so the acceleration doesn't matter to me.
Take the time to narrow down your must haves and then you can find what you are looking for in a 997.2.

Everyone's tastes are different, but I think that some people on this form may say it's an interesting color, some may even say they like it, but I doubt very many would actually buy it...maybe 1 in 20. So the biggest negative for you would be resale when the time comes.

Good comments on the color. That may explain why this car has been for sale for 4-6 months. Still, in natural light....we'll see.
Ok a novice question. In looking at comparisons between the CS and the Targa 4s, it says that there is more cargo room in the Targa than the CS. How is that possible?? How does a hatch back, like the Targa has, give it more cargo room? What am I missing here?? Boy, am I a nitpicker or what???

... as the rear glass lifts.
Nordic is a bit too strong for my taste, and I do agree that a dark interior would suit it better. I am a fan of the wide body that is why I am partial to the C4. I think that for the intent of our buyer, it will not make such a big difference in steering feel. On the contrary perhaps, the mechanical traction is breathtaking under full acceleration.
I would definitely drive a PDK for an extended test drive, I think a manual for daily driving adds very very little, and suffers in comfort in traffic too much.
As I have no idea about prices, being on the other side of the pond, would a PDK C4S be available for the same money as the Targa? Or how about a C4 cab? Targas have a limited audience, and that color also, so you may be facing a resale issue...
Good luck. There is nothing more intoxicating in the car world than porsche ownership (to me)!

Well, it looks like the Nordic Gold Targa may not be in the cards for me. I was told that there are some offers on it, for more than it was offered to me for(go figure), even though it did not sell on Ebay. So I continue my hunt. Of course, from the comments here, I may have been saved from my own color blindness by this quirk of economic tomfoolery. But my feeling is there is a better car and deal just around the corner. And sure nuff there is another....a 2009 CS....no glass roof though...waaa....but a car with a lot of options. But it is Atlas Grey....what are the comments on that color?? Interior is terracotta and black full leather, and I think I linked to it before. It is not my favorite color, but not bad either.
It's a long way from me in Houston, Fairfield, Conn, and I always have trouble spending a lot of money on something I haven't seen first hand. Being an old show car guy, I am very picky on condition.
So the quest continues for a wanna be. Maybe I can really be one of the group one of these days....I am taking the advice of many here....patience....and I think it will pay off in the long run.
