I purchased the tow-hook plate mount, but fortunately haven't needed it yet. I've been written twice for speeding without the front plate and it was never mentioned (and I live in a very foreign car-unfriendly place).

i argue no plate at all in the front (looks HORRIBLE), even if it is law.

who is going to call you on it? some cop in a ford?

I too am curious as I live in the NW. I've seen one on a 911 and it the best looking alternative I've seen so far. He made it himself though. Scanned his real one and even shrunk it down a bit and made a decal out of it.

Then stop being enablers. It takes more than a front plate to get you nicked for an infraction. You need to run the red-light or speed enough to draw the attention of law enforcement.

That said, given we don't ticket the drivers for photo-from-front identification and the laws require you be pulled over and ticketed in person, it doesn't make any sense to keep the front plates other than a witness to an incident possibly being able to remember the plate. The odds of that seem low.

WA State Police have the same lame excuses for front plates as they do for drivers flashing their high beams: "it makes our jobs harder". Its actually a violation in Washington to flash your high beams.. even if its to signal the other car his lights are off, for example. They just want to be sure you cannot indicated a speed check.

Here in the UK front plates are mandatory on cars. My RS now runs with no front plate; and I've not been stopped. Know others who have run without a front plate for years with no trouble.

I have a broken front numberplate in the passanger footwell; should I get stopped then it would appear that the front plate has recently been damaged and I have as yet not had time to get a new plate made and fitted.

i scanned the plate and sent a hi res photo to the vinyl shop. i specified the precise dimensions and did not shrink it so there would be as little controversy as possible. you can put it on regular vinyl or reflective. it even shows the watermarks on the original plate.

I am in BC Canada and since Jan 2009 and almost 45,000 KM never had any trouble for not having it at all.
