What exactly is this? The stock head unit with nav? Ability to integrate an iPhone?

Is this plug and play with a 997.1 with a stock CDR radio?

Keep in mind that the early PCMs did not read MP3s. Will this one?

The unit for sale is from an '05, I have an '06 and I cannot read MP3. IIRC, it wasn't until late '06 that the PCM was modified to read MP3's

I never tried to play MP3's so I can not answer that question.

If your car has the fiber optics (MOST) then it will work on a 997.1

It is a plug and play, but it may require a trip to the dealer so the car can recognize it.

You can integrate an Iphone or Ipod by using an adapter from either NAVTV or Dension. I had a Dension Ipod adapter on this one, it took the place of the CD changer in the controls.

If the CDR is part of the Fiber Optic (most) ring, then this unit is plug and play - it may or may not require a trip to the dealer for programming.
