awesome leases on '10 Carreras
Porsche have specials of .00167 money factor on 2 year lease..
but the best deal is the carrera's cause the residual value is 71%..lol
I guess theyre prepping us for the 2012 991?998?
the payment quote was only around $800-900/month on an $87,000 car..
that's cheaper than the loaded Cayman S

ONLY $900 per month?
That's $24,000.00 plus a down payment over the course of 2 years,
with a limit of most likely 20,000 miles. That sounds high enough to me.
Why not buy a 2008 or 2009--you would really have to pay too much to
lose $24,000+ in depreciation over a two year period.
I bought my 2006 a year and a half ago with 5,000 miles, and it hasn't depreciated $1.00.
Then again, I don't have to have a brand new car.

Let's see how good this deal is:
Let CC be your cap cost (I'm assuming they do not require a down payment othewrwise the deal is even worse), so:
the residual is 87000*0.71 = 61770
the depreciation is (CC - 61770)/24 (24 months is the lease term)
the rent charge is 0.00167*(CC + 61770)
The sum of these two is equal to the monthly payment (to which you would have to add state tax however it is calculated in your particular state). So:
(CC - 61770)/24 + 0.00167*(CC + 61770) = 900
solving for your cap cost you get a cap cost of $77726.
If the monthly payment is 800 a month your cap cost is $75421.

this is Porsche's normal rate.... lowest money factor was .00250
cant beat the deal especially if buyers are planning on moving up to the 991..
the 2 year lease is best, dont have to worry about how to get rid of the car.. especially
crazy car guys like me...lol

I just got a 2010 Carrera - 88K msrp payment came to 998 per month including ca tax with about 2k down. Dealer came about 13.5k off msrp. I doubt a used car would cost much less over 3 years. You might be able to score a nice 08 s for about 60K but more likely 70k. With the 2012 out, I got to think an 08 would take a pretty big hit in 3 years, not even being a 997.2. And in CA you are going to pay 10% on that used car so 7K is gone from day one.
At Law: I dont know about the mid west but I was in the market used before I went new and an 06 997 with about 30K miles would probably go for about $40-45k. If you dont mind what did you pay?

Its not dropped much but you cant get what you paid for it unless you bought it from a friend who owed you a favor.
I am pretty sure what you paid for it gets a buyer an "S" now.

Just out of curiosity, what do you feel an '06 is worth with the
following options:
12,500 miles
GR/Black
PASM
PSE
19" lobsters
6-Speed
Heated seats/power seats
BOSE
Sport Shifter
Absolutely mint condition

Ha...that's the exact number i had in mind when I read atlaw's description and before I read ur post.
I don't think he needs to sell it to another lawyer but 42-43K is tops private sale. The red makes it tougher to sell; although I personally think its the best color.
35K tops for a trade in dealer. Around 50K gets you 06S territory.
I have an 05 that is very lightly optioned. I wanted it that way since this was a car I was going to use to learn how to drive on the track. It had 37K mile and I got in 4/09 for 41K with CPO. At 37.3K miles I got a brand new engine thanks to CPO and the dreaded IMS.
It's in good condition and at evey DE people come up to me thinking its brand new. (i'm good with an orb buffer) I dont think i can get better than 35K for it even with a new engine. But I dont want to sell. It worth more to me than that and I can drive it hard at the track and if something happens, such is life.
IMO guys like me and atlaw that got great deals should keep them for a long time.
Now if another great deal comes long I may part with my two porsches for a great 997.2 S or gt3 but I'm in no rush. However when I go to DE's and see drivers in similar or less powerful cars do incredible things on the track I realize that I have a great car to learn with and am happy to own one.

less than $45k, based on the fact that I know I couldn't replace it for less than that. It is a toy for me and I get great deal of enjoyment from it.
I, like buckwheat, have no interest in selling unless a heck of a deal on
a GT3 comes along.

Also I agree..sold my 05 Carrera (artic silver) when didn're really need to and always regretted it. Now have an 09 Carrera S which is great but am making up for 3.5+ yrs lost on it of things/mods/$ spent on the new car.
