Default Engine missing

Hello everone, Newbie here, I've been reading this forum off and on for 2+ yrs. Great info but now i have a problem again. 2005 c2, been through the ims failure and had my mechanic replaced with an L&N updated shaft and bearing. Ran great fot the 1st 4k miles but now the engine is missing Cylinder #1 and#3 from mechanics scan. Sometimes it runs great and some time it misses, can't tell when it might happen. I can usually stop and turn off the engine and starts up and runs great for a while and then skips. I have left it overnight and runs great the next day.I talked to a fellow car guy and he told me to run a can of HEAT in the fuel to remove any water that might be in the fuel. Don't know whats going on as there can be so many different rhings that can cause this problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

Have the spark plugs been replaced yet? (Required at 60,000 miles or 4 years). How about the individual plug coils? That's where I suspect your problem lies. Quite often engine heat destroys those coils and they need replacing during the spark plug service.

Just poured a can of heet in the fuel to maybe eliminate any possible water in the fuel and ran it for 30 miles and it ran perfect. Don't know if fixed the problem though. Will probably change the plugs. Has anybody done their own plug change-out and is it difficult to access? My local mechanic wants $210.00 for labor + parts. Is that resonable? Thanks

From what I have heard, that is a very reasonable price. They are a pain in the neck to access. You have a lot of parts that have to come off (on the left side mostly) to get to them.
