I've seen the DIY threads on here, and they mostly call out a 74mm 15 flute oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter canister. I've purchased 2 74mm wrenches so far and both seem too small.

Is there anyone that can tell me what they use other than the porsche wrench? It it a 76mm 15 flute? or are the 74mm ones that I am buying just duds?

I wonder why the 74mm 15 flutes that I have don't fit over the canister? I don't want to have to bang it on for risk of cracking the canister.

I got a 74mm 14 flutes as recommended in other thread, it fits fine.

I believe the correct tool is 74 mm with 14 flats.

It would seem that either I have an odd canister, or they are all not 100% the same. I found a 76mm 14 flute that fits perfectly on the canister. Thank for all the help!

If got one of the big, fluted tools for the 997.1 and prior that I mistakenly ordered ( have a 997.2 that doesn't need it).. new and unused if anyone wants to buy it for $10+shipping.
