Right wing mirror dips on reverse?

Default Right wing mirror dips on reverse?

I've had my car for a little over 3 months now and I always park on the right hand side of our double garage. Space it a little tight so when backing out, I always look at the right hand mirror to see if I have ample clearance. Yesterday, for the first time since I bought the car, the right mirror dipped when I put it in reverse!

Should it have been doing this all the time? There is nothing I can think of that changed over the last few days so this really comes as a surprise. Any ideas as to what's going on?

Now I'm wondering what other things my car should be doing that it's not...

You switched your mirror adjustment over to the right mirror and left it there.

If you leave it there it will always dip. This is to allow you to see the curb when parking/backing near a curb. A great feature.

If the mirror switch is in [I forgot which position] the mirror will dip when gearbox is put in reverse.

Recommendation: Take your owner's manual to bed with you. Read it thru and thru over a few nights. It's fun!

Wonderful - thank you. A friend had a go and he adjusted the seat/mirrors before he drove it. I didn't even think about that as they went back to my usual position when I unlocked the car later.

I think I'm going to leave it there!

Is this true for 6spd cars as well or just for tip/pdk? Mine doesnt do it nomatter what position the switch is.

Yes--works for the 6-speed as well.

Position the mirror button to the right mirror and leave it there.

When you shift into reverse, the right mirror dips. When you shift into first and begin driving forward, the mirror returns to its original setting.

I love the feature when parking. No scraped wheels for me! Of course I blew it at the bank drive through when I got my 4 cab. Didn't realize how much wider the back end wheels stuck out and slightly rubbed one pulling away from the curb at the drive in canister.

Thats exactly why it doesn't work. Look at the scan from the manual earlier in the thread.

This is a feature you get with the 'seat memory' option.

So this feature is like three grand? I am the only one driving my car, I didn't see me using the memory seats. I wish I had the parking mirror, tho. Oh well...

Same - no interest in the standard seats and just can't see paying for the adaptive sport seats. I didn't have it on my 2007 either and never missed it.
