Perhaps you have a cracked spark plug coil. When heat expands it the sound (and arcing) goes away.

Best theory so far... Thanks. This would be a pretty easy fix, yes?

Fairly easy. With a long handled screwdriver (place it in the area and use it like a stethoscope) I would try to figure out which of the coils was the problem one (assuming only one failed), and then have it removed and replaced.

Thanks again... I didn't get a single reply to this over at 6speed. I think I need to start posting here too.

No response maybe because they know how to have more fun over there.

I believe there are more guys there with cash in their pockets for modifying their cars and less guys who know one end from the other of a torque wrench there.

It is... I took her there yesterday but they of course won't be in until Monday morning to take a look.

I left the car at the dealership for two days and they were not able to duplicate the issue. I showed them the video as well and tried to duplicate it myself... The 3 days prior to bringing it in this was happening every time I started the car. So the mystery continues.

CND. Typical results. (Can Not Duplicate). Suspect they were not aggressive in sorting it out.

is the clicking with or without the air conditioning on? could it be one of the belts with something stuck to it? or if it is more internal could it be one of the timing chains due to a loose tensioner? If the dealer can't diagnose it, start simple and external.

Maybe a loose engine cabin fan bumping against a shroud? Some thoughts to help find the cause. Good luck, let us know what you find.

Yeah I was pretty frustrated about it and thought the same... All I can do is hope I hear it again and bring it in. Almost a catch-22... Will continue to investigate.
