I just changed the oil in the girlfriends 06 997 S and wanted to know if I can turn the service light off with my actron scan tool?

i would guess you may need someone with piwis or durametric to turn it off. 'actron tool' is just an ODBII reader, is it correct? it is probably faster to try it and see what happens.
my mechanic has his own piwis and i just got mine reminder reset today.

Correct, only PIWIS or Durametric can be used to reset service reminder

Correction, PIWIS cannot reset the indicator properly on 997.2 cars yet. It can reset the interval to the max the computer allows, but not to the correct value. Ok, so that may qualify as a reset, but not the behavior you want.

If you have your 1st oil change after 13 mos and 10k miles, what should the reminder be set to after being 'reset'?

Durametric will set it to remind in 2yrs/20k miles. Thats not what you want at all.

What is 'correct' is its set to 11 mos, 10k miles. If you hit 10k miles first, its time for another oil change. If you hit 11 mos first, its time for a brake fluid flush (oil would not be due till 12 mos on the time clock). You cannot do this with Durametric.

i would say any responsible owner must change oil at least once a year so all those 'reminders' are hardly relevant.
