Default 997.1 vs 997.2

I have been lurking around and thinking of upgrading to a 997 C2S Cab.

What is the difference in the 997.1 and the 997.2? I see lots of reference to this but do not know the difference. I am looking for a 2007 - 2008. Is that where these supposed difference's take place and what are they?

Thanks
Ron

997.2 is 2009+

You can find a lot by using the search tool, but very quickly here are a few things that changed:
- new DFI engine -> bump in power
- minor styling adjustments
- new PCM
- new options (bluetooth, ipod integration, ventilated seats, etc)

If you buy one with PCCB you'll have to change your username.

By MY09 Porsche also made a minor change to the cabriolet top material--supposedly to improve wear.

The jury's not back yet on the DI engines. There have been many cases of injector problems, along with failures of the high pressure fuel pump. As always, with the introduction of something completely new, there are growing pains to go thorough. Perhaps by MY11 things will be substantially worked out.

997.2 has bigger calipers and rotors than the 997.1.....997.1 S and 997.2 S have same size rotors and calipers.

997.2 has
more power
better braking ability
PDK option
and like others have mentioned, different front and rear bumper style, touch screen PCM and som eother different options.

So far the DFI engine has not had any recalls or major issues. In the Cayman Interseries these cars use the stock DFI engine and so far in 2 seasons not 1 single failure or replacement....totally stock engines! Nice huh? Only thing I wonder about is the amount of oil burning my engine does, but I know your .1 engine burns oil too, so probably a moot point.

He can change it from "rusty rotors" to "potter's wheels."

Interior on 997.2 has a better designed center section for the radio, NAV and climate control in my opinion. You lose the "phone keypad" look. I still love my 997.1, both are incredible cars.

When I bought my car, I thought the LED taillights looked a bit too "Japanese-y" for my taste, so this was one reason to push me to 997.1.

Since then, the fashion seems to have evolved with Audi driving the bus and the lights have grown on me.
For instance, I followed a Cararra White/Beige 997.2 C2 for an hour on the way to work on 280 last week and found myself quite smitten.

I still like the engine note of the non-DFI 997.1 significantly better though.
Sound is very important to me.

winkingchef...I've had 2-997.1S cars and now a 997.2S...I never noticed a distinct sound difference between the 2-3.8L engines....they sound the same. What is it you noticed? Other than the stock exhaust is very quiet on both cars but especially quiet on the 997.2
