Default 2nd 997.2 Annual Service

So I got my 2009 C4S serviced at the dealer on Friday after a year. I had anticipated doing it every 7,500 miles, but the year creeped up before the mileage. I did the first service at Porsche of Stevens Creek after driving to CA for the Historics last year. This time it was done at HBL Porsche in Tysons Corner, VA. Besides the usual items, I also had my PCM 3.0 updated to version 1.4. Of note, I reported to them that I had an unusual hesitation leaving from a stop and going from 1 --> 2 (my car has PDK - where's ADias? ).

They reported that they also observed the issue and found the following fault codes in my PDK:

P1990
P1991

If any of you guys know what those codes are (and their relevance), please feel free to chime in. I know I can google them (and I will), but you guys seem to have more info than just the code reader. Additionally, they reprogrammed the DME control unit, reprogrammed the PDK control unit, and performed the "Torque Loss Adaption" and "Throttle Adaption".

Long story short, my car feels like a new one. I was getting tired of PDK, but this helped fire me back up. My service advisor also suggested I drive it a little harder...

Price out the door was $395.80.

FWIW, I couldn't find the fault codes online. I guess Renntech has it but I don't have an account there (yet).

You probably got the 2010 software updates and now all is well.

Check with your dealer. Make sure he has all updates available.

Yep - sounds like what was going on with mine. Go get it done!

ADias - Any ideas about those fault codes?

Chris glad you got that done. Will have to take mine in sometime soon. Am not at 1 yr yet. Purchased Jan 2010 and only at 6000 miles....you think it would be worth it? I may need to ask the dealer down here in Texas to see if he has any updates for my car. Ya think?

Had PDK software update, the change points seem to happen at higher revs now. It also refuses to go into higher gears, where it dictates to too low revs, including manual change. My fuel consumption has not changed interestingly. It feels better at normal (not sport or sport plus) mode.

Guess I'll have to take mine in as well. I've been driving exclusively in manual mode to avoid some the PDK "indecision" issues that I've noticed over my year and a half of ownership. Not really been an issue since I do prefer the manual mode, but I would be interested to see if an update made the auto mode any better. Thanks for posting.

I just had my own "software update."
I am now beta testing "the claw" shift technique.

FWIW, my PDK hesitation issues were in MANUAL/SPORT mode. Automatic was just fine (I drive in normal/auto maybe 5% of the time), but manual/sport was hesitating badly when taking off. It was VERY similar to a slipping clutch but without the nasty smell and embarrassment.

Well, I took mine in last week for a TPMS issue (turned out to be user error) and was told there were no new PDK software updates. My car was an early 2009 build and last at the dealer in December for first annual oil change. I did get the latest PCM update 1.4 (even though version still only shows "V"), so who knows? Guess I'll ask again in December when I'm back for the second oil change.
