Speaking of threads where the wheels have come off...
That's funny. I'd have been pissed too. Can't even imagine what that did to the braking. Early Carbon wheels were TERRIBLE under braking to start with.
Brave man though. A front disc would have been terrifying to ride in Colorado crosswinds. You wouldn't even see those on the USOC track. Those tri spokes came along for a VERY good reason. I'm happy on my Nemesis rims, luddite that I am.
When I raced bicycles, I was given a set of disc wheels by Steve Hed of HED (rip).
I loaned them to a friend and training partner for the Colorado State Championships and when he returned them they're was this slick coating on them. I asked what happened - he replied and I sht you not - "I rubbed furniture polish on them to make them faster".
Mthr fckr!!!
I never trusted the wheels or him again but thankfully the epoxies Hed used were resistant to Old English.
I still have the front and it's as true as day 1. Probably because I only used it one more time after that and the tri-spoke came out soon after.

If you look up the MSDS for 3M hand glaze, you will see that it includes a significant amount of mineral oil.
It is not much different than putting baby oil (mostly mineral oil) on the paint.

well reason why i used baby oil to remove tar was i got a few old bottles of the stuff and did not know what to do with them, i tried removing asphalt that got thrown on the paint and it seemed to do quite a good job at it. at least now i dont have to waste the stuff and pollute the environment by throwing it down the sewage.. thats Porsche Intelligent Performance for everyone. i hope dan's right that idont damage the paint before i finish the old stuff.

Were you one of those who applied your high blood pressure Rx (Minoxidil) on your head and started the Rogaine revolution?
Most assuredly, long term you would damage the paint with baby oil, kerosene, etc. A good "wax on wax off" is the best.
BTW, the little blue pills (Sildenafil) were also initially the Rx to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure meds.) Those taking Sildenafil (Viagra) found some other hard results.

Back in my previous life working as a rigger in a boat dealership, our boat washer would mix Vaseline and baby oil and rub it on the gelcoat of the used boats on our lot. Made faded hulls look nice and shiny...until the first rain or use in the water.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Using baby oil on any car sounds like one of those fly by night used car sales techniques.
