Default Brake Fluid Change...

What frequency would you recommend for brake fluid change for a '06 C2S driven about 4500 miles annually (no racing or track events). Thx.

Yup. Better safe than sorry. Who wants brake trouble? Possibly dangerous definitely a PITA and lots more $$$.

As you know it's not the mileage as much as it's moisture getting into the system which happens even when parked.

Just did my 05 997 C2, the brakes were not a bad job but the clutch is a pita. Recommend you use an assistant when you bleed the clutch. I used a Motive bleeder pump. Buy more fluid than you think you will need IMO. $12.00 litre for ATE typ 200 or Blue from http://www.raceshopper.com/ate_brake_fluid.shtml

Despite low annual mileage brake fluid is hygroscopic (not to be confused with hydroscopic) and thus attracts water from the surrounding area. If you live in a moist area you would want to increase the fluid change rate. If you are hard on your brakes (the severe compression and expansion of the of moisture laden air within the brake system) then more moisture will be introduced.

It's a relatively simple procedure that can be done in an hour or hour and a half with a buddy.

You could also characterize brake fluid as "hydrophilic" as opposed to "hydrophobic"

Ya know what? If it's out of warranty I'd get to know a good independent Porsche shop in your area. Maybe check with Porsche Club of America to see if they stand up. FWIW.
