Default 12 volt air compressor

I want to get a 12 volt air compressor to carry in the P car in case of a flat. Sounds like the one that comes w/ the car is OK but weak.
Whats the best one to get to replace it? Edgy, what do you use?
I have a plug kit (thanks to Edgy).
Also thanks to Edgy for all that he contributes to on this forum. I think we all appreciate your expertise!

I bought what seems like a very high quality rechargeable unit from Pep Boys this weekend.
This one is the 12 V. version of the same unit.

The rechargeable is quite heavy, but I bought it for use in the garage.

you already have one that comes with the car that will pump up the car. I use it all the time to air he tires back up before I go home from the track

Wanted to make sure it would pump a completely flat tire back up after a plug.

Not sure how often you'll have to do that, but in any case, the OEM compressor would handle that easily. Like Mike in his post above, I use mine to bring tire pressure back to street spec after track use, which the compressor does quickly enough and without strain. It has the added benefit of being compact and it fits in the tool tray.

I also use the stock compressor after running on the track. It
might be a little slow but it does the job.

I use a Viair portable compressor all the time. Super fast, very fast.

Of note : the internal 12V cigarette-style outlets in the car are fused at 7.5 A (or something like that) and the Viair draws 10 A (or something like that). First time I used it I blew a fuse in the car.

I now use it clamped directly on the battery and it's great.

BTW the one that comes in the car is fine for an emergency backup. I just like the Viair for maintenance/ track because it lets me adjust pressure really quick and easy.

+1 for the OEM compressor.

I also have a MaxAir Floor Air Pump (Visit http://www.airpoweramerica.com and look for Model 7500). It's simple to use, capable of handling automobile tires, and compact enough to fit easily in the luggage compartment---but be prepared for a workout.

I carry around one of the Craftsman models I picked up at Sears for $20-30. Works well, has an integrated gauge that's easy to read and is faster than the OEM pump. It doesn't have a cute storage cubby made just for it, but it's great every few weeks when I add a few pounds to each tire when they get low.
