Default Car Not Driven 2 Years - What Need s To Be Done?

Due to travel, a friend's 997 has been sitting idle for 2 years.

Can the car be jump started and driven to a dealer? What should be done?

Thanks

Put fresh gas in now...before running it anywhere.

Fresh gas for sure, but you may need to remove the old gas first. Talk to your dealer.

Yeah, I would talk to the dealer.
My opinion:
* New gas (maybe requires siphoning out the old)
* New oil
* Complete check of all other fluids
* Some "warmup time" the first few times its started.

Crying shame to leave a car unattended that long.
Have him ship it to California. I'll be happy to wring out the kinks periodically.

Check tire pressure for sure, may even need new tires.

I would put the car in 5th gear, and manually turn engine over (assume it's not a Tip) before cranking the starter with the key.

I heard about replacing the gas, but some people have told me gas does not degrade much, and it is fine to drive. One Porsche workshop even told me just to jump start it and drive it.

What is the purpose of manually turning the engine over?

You should also change the brake fluid, make sure battery holds a charge.

Has it moved in two years? Tyres are unlikely to be in a good way.

Talk to the shop you trust. It's easy to go overboard but by the same token there are multiple things that need to be done. Battery and gas are a good start. Brake fluid shortly after and verifying the brakes function properly.

You probably also want an oil change.

Good call - tires likely have flat spots, especially if it's in a garage that gets hot.

Well, it will be getting an annual service, and the tires need to be replaced anyway.

Any additional service items?

How about in regard to jump starting it and driving it to the dealer? I am still trying to find a DC area dealer. I used to take it to Porsche Arlington, but figuring independent may be cheaper. Or there may be another Porsche dealer in the VA/MD area that is better.

Gas goes bad, very bad, especially the crappy E10 we have now, which absorbs tons o water.
