Is it easy to remove/replace the door handle trim (the flat black plastic piece where the window buttons and the handle sits)? Is it just screws once the door panel is out or is there more to it like glue, etc?

Mine are scratched and I would like to replace them.

This was a great resource for me to help figure out how to remove the door panel to paint some of the interior trim bits. If the 911 is the same as the GT3RS, the window buttons are clipped in and are easily removed once the door panel is out of the car.

Sin911, The black plastic piece behind the door pull is melted in place at 9 points on the back side of the door panel. The new part is supplied with 9 hollow plastic tubes that insert through holes in the door panel. They are then melted down to hold the trim in place. I replaced mine this past weekend with carbon fiber. You simply and carefully drill out the holes on the original piece making sure not to damage the door panel. Then insert the new piece and melt the 9 pegs. I took a blow torch and heated a ball peen hammer and used that to melt the pieces. It worked well. It sounds intimidating but is actually quite easy.

Great info here, and a very clear and concise DIY.

Thank you!

Great job! Thanks for detailing it for us. Everyone, someday, will have to get inside their door panels.

Awesome write-up ! I need the same information for a Panamera. Actually just a diagram

showing all screw / clip locations for removing the panel would be a huge help. Thanks in advance.

Easy to copy and paste these DIY's into a Word document and save them in a folder on your computer. That way you have easy access to the info when you need it.

Just removed door panel to install illuminated sill wiring.
This post made it a breeze.
Thanks for your detailed photos.
Just a heads up for anyone that will be doing this: the 9 white pop fasteners are very hard to pull free of door.
You must give them a good tug to get them free - feels like you're going to break the door panel, but go for it.
Study the photo that shows them in the panel to get an idea where they are located before you start pulling.

So its Sunday, and my local parts dealer is closed. I dont want to wait to fix the "axle part" I follow this DIY and when I looked at our broken plastic piece I noticed it is symmetrical. So the broken tab on the driver door can be switched with the passenger. I let you know in an hour or so if this works.

Frank the hack.

Default Door Clip Part #

In case you break any of the door panel retaining clips (like I did), the replacement part number is 955-555-243-00. It took me a few minutes to find it. Clips are around $2.50 each, so no big deal, just annoying to have done it over a holiday weekend when dealers aren't open.
