Where is this LED?

Agreed I hate cars that horn when it gets locked, but a beep is fine and doesn't annoy other people yoo much and is actually very convenient to have.

On the center of the dash by the emergency switch.

Actually, inside the manual lock button (center of the center vents) is where you will find the LED. There are two switches there--the top one is the emergency flasher button (rarely used) and directly below it is the door locking switch (rarely used, too!) Within the body of that button is the LED described.

Thanks Edgy!

I'll have to look for this LED, I never noticed it actually. The location inside the middle of the dash, not dash top is not terribly convenient as a visual indication when outside the car. I'll likely have to get on knees to see but at least its something . . .

Thanks for the clarification, I remember it now, it's the red LED on the central locking button. It lights up when I lock the car from inside while driving. My car doesn't lock itself up after driving off and I haven't bothered go to the dealer to activate it. I don't have sport chrono.

My '06 Cayenne factory setup chirps twice.

No horn.

The parking lights flash twice to indicate the car is locked.

Keep the arm rest compartment cover partially open and the car will beep when you lock it. I am sure there's a way to take the light bulb out so you don't drain the battery.

buy mods4cars unit.

all this unit does can theoretically be programmed by piwis but you sort of need to know how exactly and most dealers simply do not know how. so efficiently it is simpler to install this little box to do all those tricks.

You mean the rear centre console storage compartment where the iPod connection is? Mine does not have light and car does not beep when I leave it open.

Porsche can fix this problem by simply having a dedicated lock and unlock buttons on the key. And while I'm complaining, how about a smaller key head at that.

Given a choice, I'd like to have a choice, so each of us could just pick in an OBC setting where other locking items are set.

I agree. I'm all for choice--personally, I've never missed the chirp. Porsche could easily make one programmable as they do with the lighting options as part of the Sports Chrono plus option.

By the same token, I don't want a change if it wasn't user selectable. I've trained myself to listen for the locks to cycle or watch the taillights flash, so I don't need or want a chirp.
