Done reseaching and reading through the forum past few days, I am thinking to get a set of 18-inch for DE. However, I noticed the followings in Carrera Owner Manual (page 290)
"*911 Carrera S: Summer tires 19-inch only"
Does this mean Porsche does not recommend 18-inch for 997.2 Carrerra S? And what is the reason for this?
I saw some members here recommend 18-inch for track use. What is your setup for 18s? Please post your wheel brand and specs.
Thanks in advance.

18" wheels are standard on the 997, are the approved snow tire for the 997S. A search here at the forum will net dozens of posts about 18s being the "best" wheel and tire combination for 997, 997S, 997T, 997 GT3, etc. It's what we all use on the track - I've had Fikse, OZ, and Volk 18s and are running a set of TE37s (no longer at TireRack - bummer).
I'd say the best buy now is the OZ Aleg's at Tire Rack. Very light, strong, inexpensive. But they look good and in 8.5x18 front and 11x18 rear are the perfect size.

I got used CCW C14 as you know some time ago - 9" fronts 12" rears and I would say they are head and shoulders above allegeritas quality wise. i got 265/335 rubber on em now and front grip is awesome. rear is a bit too wide but still works fine and car feels way more stable than on 245/295 hoosiers which i have on my stock 18" rims.
imho if one looks for a track wheels 9"/12" rims is the only right option, 8.5"/11" is not wide enough. and for street driving none of that matters anyway.

Many are using 18" for track because it is lighter, tires are a bit less expensive and you get better acceleration off of the corners. There aren't many brands of track tires available in a 295/35 18 so many are using a 295/30 18 rear tire which is shorter than the stock tire. We make several styles of wheels in 18" and 19" that are very strong, light weight and an excellent choice for your track wheels. Please visit our web site, www.fikse.com

For whatever it's worth, the O.Z. Alleggerita in widebody offset (C4, C4S, GT3 RS, GT2, Turbo) are 12" wide in the back. The narrowbody offset wheels are 11.5" wide.
18x8.5" fronts, weight 18.166lbs.
18x12" rears, weight 23.446lbs.
I run them with Hoosier R6 245/35 and 315/30.
I'm very happy with mine, but all I wanted was lightweight, safe, and round -- cosmetics were not a factor in my decision. The CCWs are undeniably better, but at a significantly higher cost unless you can find a used set. 18" is definitely the way to go for track wheels. I've considered getting 18" street wheels too looking for a bit more sidewall / pothole protection.

in my opinion an ability to have properly fit 255/265 rubber in front 9" rims is worth it. stopping power on this rubber i have now is like day and night compared to what it was.
for rear I agree 11" with 315 or 305 should be more than enough.
