Screwed Up Paint -- My fault!

I generally agree with the benefits of maintaining as much factory paint as possible. But when I sold my last car (Targa in GT Silver), it was discovered during PPI that there had been some repainting done on the rear quarter panel that I as unaware of. The shop that found it (with a paint gauge) said it was likely done during original delivery of the car. The discovery had no impact on the sale (buyer had no concern about it). It was completely undetectable to even my critical eyes for the 2 years I owned the car. So, done right, some repainting shouldn't necessarily cause any diminished value of the car.
