Default Unusual a/c behavior...

Ambient temp outside 78.

Early morning start up.

A/C set to AUTO, 65

Driving out of neighborhood, windshield begins to frost up a bit from a/c out of defroster vents.

Select the ‘right arrow’ button to the right of the 'auto' button to stop a/c from all vents and throw the a/c out of center dash vents only, to reduce windshield frost…

And the a/c stops running!

Fan continues to blow, but you can tell the compressor is off and it’s blowing just regular air from outside. Then even more strange – if you hit the a/c OFF button – the air gets very cold again!

Sounds like something in this car’s computer system/control unit is amiss.

Try it on your 997 ('09)....while driving with a/c on auto, hit the right arrow to throw it from only the mid level dash vents...what happens?

Thoughts?

I have done that a few times in the last few days and nothing unusual happened. Is it consistent for you - i.e. does it happen every time you try it?

Yes, consistent. Will get it in shortly for tech to take a look. Just wondering if anyone experienced it and what the solution may have been.

Thanks.

Weird. I've never seen anything like this. I know the car "remembers" the settings you use when you switch between "auto" and "manual" control of the a/c though. Maybe try cycling the compressor on/off (in my car it's the "ECO" button) and see if that does anything?
