Question VIN ETCHING ON THE 997?!?

My DMV in PA requires a VIN etching. I guess it is like trace paper where you etch it over a raised letter metal VIN plate that is on the car's chassis somewhere. It is used in place of going to a special inspection station.

Does anyone know where there is an easily accessible metal VIN plate with raised letters on the 997 to do this? I think there may be even more than one location.

Please assist,
Edward

Curiosity got the better of me but I couldn't find it there on my 997 GT3. I doubt there's any reason to locate it differently on a GT3 so I must have been looking in the wrong place...

When I get a few minutes I will shoot it for you to better locate it.

I also live in pa.
You can have any inspection station "sign off" on the authenticity/accuracy of your VIN.
There is a DMV form for this.

When I brought my car in to PA from Florida, I had an inspection mechanic fill out the DMV form. Usually I just take a tracing of the VIN from the dashboard or from the tag beside the A pillar, but on the Carrera the DMV form was easiest. John

Sorry for the delay. It's apparent that you never service your cabin filter now do you! On the front edge of the body steel, next to the cabin filter is an embossed copy of your VIN number. See:
