The fault lies with the 996.

It is common that 997 people are negative towards the the 996.
It is common that 993 people are negative towards the 996.

But 997 owners are not negative towards 911's prior to the 993
And 993 owners are not negative towards the 997.

It's just the 996.

It doesn't say anything about Porsche owners. It's the model. It's like the Mondial was for Ferrari back in that time.

And when there's such widespread agreement that the 996 interior isn't attractive, it's really no longer a mere "subjective" issue any longer.

Stop blaming people and blame Porsche for their mistake.

The 996.1 head lights were not pretty. I dont mind the 996.2 ones. The 997 lights are nicer and more traditional. The interior on my 40th was very nice and it was as quick as a 997 S. Although it did have the X51 package that gave it 345HP total.

To say the 997 is MUCH better is a little exaggeration. Its prettier and its much more refined and its more in line looks wise with the 911 heritage. But my 2004 996 40th was not hugely outclassed by a 2005 997S. Thats why i waited for a 997.2 S to get what I would consider a fairly big jump.
I'd so change the suspension on those cars to RoW specs and get them lowered to the ride height god and Herr Porsche intended!

You hit the nail on the head here.

I've been admiring a 996 C4S parked in my neighborhood for the past couple of days. Seal grey with the wide butt - pretty darn sweet.

They're both fairly low. I like them as is. SPASM on the 997.2 is 20mm lower. 40th was 10mm lower than standard. Both are 100% street and any lower and they would be getting even more scrapes..
