1. Buy one now and drive it for a week.
2. Report back and let us know.... Are you getting maximum amount of enjoyment for your money?
4. Repeat until you can't wipe the grin off your face.
Any questions?

If NO, ===> then drive it for another week, only this time drive it like you stole it! Then report back.
If YES ===> then you made the correct decision to buy the car now.
3. Every time you think of the "monetary value" of the car, go back to the "NO" answer and follow those instructions. If YES ===> then you made the correct decision to buy the car now.
4. Repeat until you can't wipe the grin off your face.
Any questions?

for me, I must say it was a more visceral experience. I just had to have it. worst financial decision I have made yet, and at the same time, it is one of the best decisions which I have made.

If you think too much about the economics of Porsche ownership you inevitably arrive at the decision that it is not fiduciarily sound to buy a Porsche for any amount of money if you think of it as merely transportation. Common sense dictates that current models will drop in perceived value when newer models hit the streets. A common problem with potential Porsche buyers is this issue. If you dwell upon it long enough you will never get to enjoy Porsche ownership. You must simply allow your heart to rule here. Buy any of these models and simply GET OVER IT. You are not calculating the lost opportunity costs of continuing to drive something other than a Porsche because you're worried about the time-value of money.

Just imagine when your 70 and you look back and think - I never did buy that Porsche did I? ... too late now.
I too was weighing up my super car options all through my 40's so when I hit 50 I said its now or never and I just went ahead and bought it. Great decision and have not regretted it at all.

i bought an '06 c2s that stickered for $99K for $48K. The car has already taken a 50% hit and I'm not worried about the car going to zero any time soon. I figure I can sell my car in 4 years easily for $32K if not more, which means the car would have depreciated at a linear (i know this is incorrect, but go with it) rate of $333 per month. To me, that's worth every penny...
