From what I've read 2-3 weeks is max. Depends on variables such as temp, batter condition etc. If you know you're not going to drive for more than a couple days plug it in.

As an update: My dealer confirmed the current battery is now holding a charge and fine - no other issues. Just don't leave the keys in the ignition!
