17,000 on my '09 and only had the muffler clamp replaced due to broken weld. Looks like the coolant "blue cap" is leaking evident by dried pink coolant around the cap and low levels. I believe this is a common issue with the cap seal. Any input?

Tires balanced and alignment fixed at 1600 -- both were out at delivery. This is more of a PDI problem than a warranty issue. Luckily it wasn't serious, like the Porsche crest falling off the key, or life-threatening, like the ipod adaptor failing. Now at 7500.

On another note: a lot of HPFP and cooling system issues.

A number of early DFI cars had the wrong fuel pump installed which explains the rash of failures on early cars.

Not much. Cup holder broke first time used and failed sensor in fuel system a few miles ago. Both replaced under warranty. 3.7K miles on an 09 C4S. Now the nut behind the wheel is a different matter...

hv had two water pumps (whistling), fan belts (trying to find whistling), and front brake discs (warped) all replaced under warranty - thats a lot in the first year. hv to say a little disapointed - but it was one of the first 997.2 built after the august holiday plus its not my first p-car so know just how reliable they can be. hope all niggles now sorted

Just had water pump replacement on my 2010 997s at 5500 for the same whistling issue. Clutch switch failed around 4500 which intermittently prevented starting. When I first got the car the POI menu in the nav system was in German while everything else in English - it had to go in for a full reset to fix that.

All minor stuff. My dealer has been very responsive.

Black anodized finish on PSE pipe tip was chipping off due to rough surface; no doubt a supplier issue. Replaced at 1200 miles. No further problems of any kind.

Issues yet to be addressed:

On start-up, there is a brief 'grinding' sound that comes from the front (forward of the dash surface).
Dealer suspected it could be the ventilation system.. does it intermittently 80% of the time, regardless of what state the HVAC system is in (ac on/off, vent fan on/off).

PCM - does not seem to ever adjust the on-board clock when the daylight savings time switch happens - despite the nav/GPS system knowing the time. I verified the computer setting last year as being set correctly. Now its still reading daylight savings time (ie an hour ahead).

Not a warranty issue, but the voice recognition is iffy in some domains. I cannot, for the life of me, get it to tune a particular radio station by voice, either call letters or frequency. 99.9 no mater how slow I say it, gets interpreted as 92.9, 99.2, everything other than 99.9. Using the call letters KISW is also a nonstarter... it doesn't understand my spelling of that. Buy then I cannot say KJAQ either, though if I say 'jack' it gets it (which it reads back as kjack). Still... swapping XM stations and sources seems to work just fine.

10K miles on the clock in 13 months of ownership.
Two issues (both unaddressed)

1. Instrument cluster plastic surround with some rattling (heard rarely).
2. Ever since the temps have dipped below 30 F, I've noticed a creaking noise from the rear as the car is driven over every mini pot hole. Happened last winter but never noted during warmer weather ie
spring, summer and fall. The noise is similar to what you would hear in a coils spring mattress and is most noticeable during very slow speeds. I will be taking it to the dealer later this month for an oil change and will have them look into it.

Minor issues: A cracked windshield from a rock chip that was replaced.

Vehicle has been stellar otherwise.

Surprised to see so many little problems. Mine is a MY10 delivered August 2009 with 23000Km/ 14K miles had zero problems, wonder if MY10 model had all those bugs work out ???

I have a very early '09 (Oct 08 build) with 22,000 miles. I haven't had any issues at all so far other than the recall for the muffler clamps. 997.2 C2S Cab PDK.
