Default Rear seats up or down?

I drive a 2010 4S (13.000 miles in first 6 months) and am trying to determine whether the bose system sounds better with the rear seats folded down. There are two big speakers right behind the seats.I don't use the seats but they look better up. Any idea's?

My wife insists that I put the seat down.

For me this is a 2-seater car. I always have the rear backseats down to be used as a loading platform.

Sounds better down, I've had them down since day one. You have the premium system right? W/ the seats down, you can see the sub tubes that are muffled by the seats.

There are seats back there?
Down. That's where the golf clubs go and you secure them with the redundant golf club retention straps in the corners by the speaker openings.
