Default Why so cheap? (Price check)

Hi all,

Does anyone know about this 2009 997 on autotrader - http://bit.ly/bVriel ?

How could it be only $39,900? The description says "no accidents, no issues." Anyone swallowing that? I'd love to see a DME printout...

What gives?

It's either a typo or a scam or a scorned woman selling her husband's toy.

Report it. There is a link in the upper right area that says something like "suspect fraud?". I've done this several times with AutoTrader recently on cars I knew were priced well under market, and on a couple they confirmed back that they were scams.

They wil sell you that for 39k, just wire the money and we will have our transport drop it off at an address of your choosing.

Unfortunately, they will take your money for what they don't even own!!!

Must be a scam, I saw one on eBay once, Carfax checked out, so I emailed him and they guy asked me to wire money to an Account in Bulgaria and he will ship it to me, he also wanted a quick transaction! Obvious fraud so I reported it.

eBay investigated and aparently he hacked into someone's ID on eBay with good rating, downloaded some pics off the net, and somehow found the VIN#! Not too hard, if you look around this forum you can easily find VIN#s!

Be careful!

There is so much fraud going on these days.

My sister-in-law had her VIN stollen through autotrader when she was listing her car. She found out that someone supposedly had registered her car in Arizona. Her car is still parked outside the house in San Diego so she is not sure who'se car is parked in Arizona but it's not hers.

Unfortunately, she has been fighting with CA DMV and AZ DMV for months now to get to the bottom of it and they still don't know what to do.

I also had multiple fraud incidents when selling my last car with all the usual autotrader frauds. One guy even got offended that I accused him of fraud and insisted that he was legitimate. He gave me an address which mapquest showed to be a trailer park in the middle of nowhere. I wrote to tell him that I didn't see how he could be living in a trailer and still be able to afford a $35k car and he still insisted he was for real.

Good luck!

i googled the phone number which seems to be the fax number for an "airport manager" in san diego. i wont disclose personal information here, but just google it and see for yourself....

i dont know if this is a scam, but probably a typo...

but i do know of those scams... a lot of them are from the same number, and they always will show a late model, in demand car at a ridiculous price.

Just to finish this up...

I received an email back from the seller. It's got many of the hallmarks of a scam, right down to the patented poor command of the english language. See below:

"Hi there,

First of all thank you for your interest. The car is in perfect order, clear carfax, no accidents, no maintenance needed for the following months. I have to tell you that I moved to Europe (England) and I shipped the car here not knowing that the customs, insurance and road tax will be so expensive here. I will arrange shipping back to the US and I will allow 5 days for inspection once you receive the car. It is still titled in the US, you will not be liable of any import taxes.
If the distance is not an issue we can move forward. I will go down with the price only for a quick cash deal.
Let me know if you need more details on the car.

All the best,
Lukas Warden"

All the best, indeed...
