Yes, we did!
Mike and Dan:
I just had to reply when I saw your posts.
That was my first Boxster, a car that I bought in Paris, and drove all over France, Italy, and some parts of Austria and Germany while I lived there. I was lucky enough to also have a 911 there, but since it was 1998, the Boxster was still the "new thing" to drive around.

^I wonder what is it about that spot that makes all you guys pull over to take a pic? I'm sure it must have had lots of Porsche owners over the years do exactly the same thing.

You do know that was Porsche's work shop when they were in Gmund, Austria right? Not specifically sure if that was the old 'saw mill' or not.

That site is the old saw mill where Porsche manufactured the first Porsches just after WWII--the "Gmünd Coupes" got their name from that tiny Austrian town. There is a very nice Porsche museum* there as well--not associated with official Porsche. They told me where to go to find the saw milll site.
* The museum is the Porsche Automuseum Helmüt Pfeifhofer" at N46º 54' 29.03" E013º 31' 56.83" in Gmünd.
