You need a lug brush. Looks like a trimmed version of a old-fashioned shaving brush.

PS. Sears sells a set of female ez-outs which will grip over the locking lug with a reverse spiral allowing you to put enough torque on it to remove.

It sort of makes any locking stud with male splines effective only on honest people.

Exactly. I got one I think that came with some BMW car care kit I got ages ago.
