Default Which Coolant for 997.2?

is Prestone ok? The OEM stuff is pink and prestone is yellow. From the website:

"Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with ANY antifreeze/ coolant – regardless of color – for use in ALL makes and models of cars and light duty trucks. This patented formula provides a high degree of performance durability and carefully balanced protection against temperature extremes and rust corrosion of all cooling system metals, including aluminum. "

tks

Prestone is probably okay. However, years ago I learned that the VW stuff (blue) is really great stuff, too. The Porsche stuff is very good. Personally. I would use Porsche coolant in a Porsche. the price delta just isn't that significant, for as infrequently as you deal with coolant.

Red stuff is usually comparable with Dexcool. You should not mix the yellow stuff (GO5) with the red (Dexcool). There are parts of cooling systems that are spec'd to work with one or the other-it's usually some of the o-ring seals.

I'm with Dan on this one, get the Porsche stuff or a replacement as specified in the manual.

Stick with the factory coolant from the manufacturer, unless the pricing is just bad from the dealer.. then find out what the underlying technology is (ie its compatible with whats in the car now and the piping/seals). If you change to incompatible technology, bad things can happen when the two types of coolant meet and that requires a very thorough flush and cleaning of the cooling system to avoid problems.
